Gate Edit – Preparing music forms and jingles.
With this application you will be able to prepare your disco music and jingles. To get a hold of an audio CD, it’s recommended that you save all your files in the following way: Artist – Title.mp3, this way all the fields will be filled in effortless. Gate Radio Pro accepts WAV PCM or compressed files and MP3 files that are 128kbs or greater. It’s preferred not to mix different types of compressed files. Nowadays you don’t need to compress your music files, you can use the WAV PCM format for the disco music, jingles… been 10Mb per minute on your hard disk. For e.g., on a 80Gb hard disk we can have 80Gb*1000 = 80 000Mb / 10 Mb per minute = 8000 minutes with a maximum average of 4 minutes per title, therefore at least 2000 titles.

On the left hand side of Gate Edit you will find the file selector, where you place your music folder. |
On the right hand side you need to fill in each field until each fragment becomes green. You can also personalize the mixing of this title using the out point. This is very important for the final broadcast, you can test it by clicking on Play and then on Mix. | |

Each music type needs to be categorized ( music style, Pop, Rock, Dance, Gold…) It’s up to you to define each style. When you finish entering the style name and adding it to the list, you press Enter. To delete, place the mouse on the style and then press the Delete button on your keyboard. It’s not recommended that you create more than 20 different types of styles.

Broadcastings per day: The maximum number of transitions per day. Combined with the song time in minutes or in days and it also lets you define the transition frequency for each title. For e.g. to have a title broadcasted for a maximum of 4 transitions per day, you must fill in the Broadcastings per day field with 4 and fill in the Fewest time between 2 broadcastings field with 240. Therefore, it’s played 4 times during the day with a time space of 4 hours. To have a title broadcasted once a week, you must fill in the Broadcastings per day field with 1 and fill in the Broadcastings per week field with 7. |
Nb of titles between 2 songs of the same artist lets you personalize the time space between two songs of the same artist. It’s recommended that you use the global parameter located in the Options menu, then selecting Parameters and then Optimization, because if this field is misused it will slow down considerably the request time. Thus, I suggest that in the global parameter you place a value of 500 (500/16 = ~ 31 hours of time space before the same artist can be played again ). For the songs that have a strong rotation, you can place a lower value e.g. 15x4 = 60.
Don’t forget to save your form by pressing on the Save button, you will then see all the files with the extension .MUS in the same folder as your music files. Don’t delete these files, they are associated with the essential data for adding the titles to the Gate Radio Pro. If, you displace your music files, you will need to follow-up on the music files with the extension *.MUS. For the jingles, the extension is .JIN. It’s preferred that you categorize your music files in one folder and you jingle files in another.
